Adding Historical Players Manually
I hope some help can be provided here? I am playing a fictional league and wanting to add a historical player to each of the 16 teams. I have tried it with the individual player and then with a .txt document using the player id and the year I want to import. The format I am using is howear01,1974 for Art Howe in 1974. The import comes back with a message saying import failed.
Any ideas? Thank you |

Add the player IDs and year that you want to import into an Excel spreadsheet, ID first and year in the second cell with players running downward. Save a .xlsx version for backup. Then save it again as a .csv file. Then go into Finder and manually change the .csv suffix to .txt Use this .txt file for the import. Not sure what the differences would be for Windows but I'm sure there's a similar workaround. Hope that helps. G

Have you considered trying the method suggested by luckymann on a Mac for adding historical players manually, given your current import issue?

Game,
You should select historical_database.odb, not the Master .csv.

If it works for ya, that's cool, but I use the historical_database.odb because (as shown in the top of the screenshot) it asks which .odb file you want to load and the OOTP manual tells you which odb file to pick. The .odb file is many .csvs wrapped together, not a single .csv file like Master.csv.
