Please make an import tutorial for Mac users

I play on Mac, and unfortunately last year I lost a dynasty trying to import from OOTP23 into 24. It's weird because I was always able to import in the past, but the process seemed to change a little bit last year. So can someone make a clear, easy-to-follow, step-by-step tutorial for Mac users to properly and safely import dynasties from OOTP24 to 25?

I think Apple put something in a software update (for security reasons???) that made it harder to move the game. Hopefully someone has figured out a work around and can give a tutorial with pictures. Knowing Apple I am sure that it won’t be to easy.

I really like my MacBook but this is my biggest frustration. I guess it is a curse and blessing.

Yep, I'm really scared that I will lose another dynasty that I love. I'm just praying that the import works in OOTP25.

Yes, this is due to Apple changing things, sadly nothing we can do anything about.

It's a pretty easy workaround though.

In OOTP 23, click on "Settings," then the "Troubleshooting" tag. Then click on "Open folder containing saved games."

In OOTP 24, do the same.

Copy the game you'd like to import from the OOTP 23 saved games folder to the OOTP 24 saved games folder.

Now, when you try and import the game in OOTP 24, you should be able to see it in the OOTP 24 saved games folder. (You still have to import it for it to work in OOTP 24.)

This should work the same for importing from OOTP 24 to OOTP 25 as well.

Lukas, any chance we can sticky this when the game comes out? Or include those instructions with the game?

If you're going to make and sell the game for Macintosh, you have an obligation to make things work. The saving, backing up, and importing previous versions saved games has been a mess for years.

I'm sure the simple workaround Lukas has provided works, but FWIW here is how I have done it on the past few versions without issue. I don't have 25 yet but can't see why it would be any different.
  1. Under the v25 top directory, create a new sub-folder named "v24 Saves" or whatever.
  2. Copy (don't drag and drop, as this merely moves it) the .lg folder(s) you are planning to import into this new subfolder.
  3. Go through the normal import process via the start menu and when the wizard prompts you, direct it to this file in this new subfolder folder and continue on.
  4. Once it has successfully imported you can delete these copies to free up the space on your HD.

That should get it done. Let me know if it doesn't and I'll remove this post.

As we've mentioned before, this is something we have no control over whatsoever.

MacOS forces games to install in separate compartments, and there's absolutely no way for us to change that or make it work differently

Last year I tried drag and drop, and it messed up my files. This year I'll do a manual copy and see how that goes.
