PTCS #9: Coming Jan. 13!
Hey, everyone! The ninth Perfect Team Championship Series is coming up Saturday, January 13!
There will be 10 tournaments going on, with participation based on finishing in the Top 128 of the different weekly/daily leaderboards between December 4 and December 31 in each of the 10 PTCS categories! Here are the formats for each of the PTCS #9 tournaments. Please note that all formats will have a modern run environment with DH, and will be played at 1955 Ebbets Field in Brooklyn.
The tournaments began at noon ET on the 9th, with the finals broadcasted on our Twitch channel, twitch.tv/ootpdevelopments. Don't forget that there's one PTCS period left before the end of the cycle, so if you haven't tried to qualify for a PTCS period, this month is your last chance to do so! A Reminder About the Perfecto Draft Position Breakdown: As a reminder, with Perfecto Perfect Drafts, you will pick two cards from an array of six in each of the 13 rounds. These are the position breakdowns of what you'll see: Pos [SP] = 24 Pos [RP] = 6 Pos [C] = 6 Pos [1B] = 6 Pos [2B] = 6 Pos [3B] = 6 Pos [SS] = 6 Pos [LF] = 6 Pos [CF] = 6 Pos [RF] = 6 Park Factors and Other Information Here are the park factors for 1955 Ebbets Field:
There will be two separate PTCS leaderboards, one for the Daily/Weekly Traditional PTCSes, and one for the Daily/Weekly Perfect Draft PTCSes, that will funnel into a Traditional Tournament PTMS and a Perfect Draft PTMS. Here's the point breakdown:

Changes/Updates to PTCS 9 Rewards
Based off of feedback from the Perfect Team community, there have been some alterations made to the PTCS 9 rewards. The following is the explanation via Content Director Paul Sporer:
------------------------------------------- First off, thank y’all so much for the detailed, well thought out feedback on the 6 prizes. There was lots of love for Jackie and Gore, but concerns that some of the lower tier rewards maybe didn’t have much room to carve out their space in the meta. It’s a lot of work to grind through 4 weeks and qualify for the PTCS, let alone then winning any of the prizes. I respect that grind and commitment to the game and as such want y’all to have cards that can immediately enter your lineups/rotations after you win them. With that, here is a rundown of the changes made to the PTCS 9 rewards: 97 RF Kyle Tucker will be replaced by 98 SS J.P. Crawford The OF landscape at diamond has had an excellent infusion of talent recently, including PTE Evan Carter, BRefs Andrew McCutchen & Chuck Klein, and Tourney Edition Vlad Sr. to name a few. Tucker isn’t obviously better than any of them and raising his ratings to steamroll one or more of those four feels unnecessary especially when other positions could use some love, including shortstop. Crawford is a former Top 10 prospect who enjoyed a breakout season at age-28 that included a career-high 19 HRs (previous high was 9) and an AL-best 94 walks. Capable-but-not-elite shortstop defense plus eligibility at 3B in order to improve his value in the current landscape (it hearkens back to his early career when Philly put him at the hot corner a bit) rounds out this Eye/BABIP-focused card. 92 SP Jesus Luzardo has been buffed Luzardo was close but not quite there for the low diamond landscape. He did lose a little spice on his Stuff, down 4 pts to 136, but it’s a worthy trade with +3 HR, +4 pBABIP, and the coup de grace: a sharp 17-point jump in CON. This wasn’t just a for-funsies boost, he deserved better off rip. I sold his 7% BB rate a bit short, he made legitimate improvements from the 10% mark we saw in 2021-22 from him. The Lizard King is now ready for your low diamond rotation! 86 Don Drysdale had his year shifted to add a new dynamic to his profile The original Drysdale wasn’t too bad, especially in a HR suppressing era and/or park, but in talking with some folks from the community, we landed on a really fun aspect for him which is to highlight his standout hitting from 1965. His 29 HRs (7 in ’65) were the most for a pitcher over his career (min. 800 PA), 8 clear of Warren Spahn (in 315 more PA, though, so Spahn is pretty close on a rate basis). His bat offers a 96 PWR (incl. 118 vL) and 95 BABIP. This improved bat adds a dynamic angle of playability in no-DH tournaments without costing him a ton in pitching. He does lose a decent bit of STF (-19) but in exchange for +5 HR, +2 pBABIP, and +4 CON.

Thanks, Sporer. For all the complaints, the dev team doesn't get enough credit for the responsiveness. Appreciate it!

Is it correct that the iron event is NOT limited to iron cards?

It is limited to just Iron cards. Why would there be bronze and up cards in an Iron event?
I mean, yeah, it doesn't mention "Iron Only" in the description, and I can edit that up to say that, but also it...just makes sense it would be an iron-only tournament

Because I went 0 for 5 again today, lmao.
That makes me like 1 for 30 in getting past the 2nd round in PTCS ![]() It's like my luck in Diamond League playoffs this year. I basically hit the 1% odds - but for the chance to lose as much as I do. And it's not rosters - I had a near perfect roster for every tourney. As I typically do, many of the losses were in game 7. But I'm just having fun with the 'booooo' comment. It's just a game, no big deal. I enjoy playing it. |

It was the iron team that made a heroic run, reaching the semi-finals. To construct my iron team, I started with the daily team and randomly took out a bunch of high OVR pitchers and replaced with low OVR cards that had some kind of name recognition for me which was hard since I never play caps. Anyway, that left me with about 35 minutes for the draft (also out in round 2). |

Congrats on the 3rd/4th place finish! That's solid. I'm just cursed in PTCS. I got 1st place on the Primetime Cap tourney and 1st Place on the Daily Plus Live tourney last night after PTCS, lmao. Those were basically two of the formats in PTCS. |
