Four Thoughts (Running; Negro League Stats; Minors; Spring Training)
Love the game. Four suggestions:
1. Revamp the algo that determines Speed/Steal/Baserunning. It seems when there isn't a ton of data available, such as in the Negro Leagues or for minor leaguers who had almost no MLB service time, the default is to set all three categories <10. The overwhelming majority of players in the minors have absolutely no running skills whatsoever, which does not make intuitive sense. Shouldn't they be at least average at speed and baserunning? It's not just the minors. Consider a rather ordinary case of an MLB player: Vince Dimaggio. Not a prolific base stealer, but he was good for about 10 steals a year, and very efficient. Played a lot of CF. Did not hit triples. In the game I'm playing, he was a major league hitter, but all three of his running stats were between 4 and 6 on a scale of 100. 2. An offshoot of my running suggestion is for Negro Leaguers generally. The default profile stats are often skewed. One of the more glaring ones is injuries, where the algo seems to think a larger proportion of the players are fragile, maybe because there were fewer games played in real life in the NeL? The algo also seems thrown off as to pitcher stamina, with a large proportion of NeL starters having stamina in the 60s (on a 100 scale) or lower...pushing them into RP territory. 3. Please consider another workaround for partial minor league rosters, other than globally allowing ghost players across all levels. Maybe tie the ghost player setting to the specific league, instead of it being global? This is particularly troubling when a minor league season starts during MLB spring training, where some of the minor rosters are depleted by players getting an invite. 4. Can we get a Player Dev update automatically after spring training? As it is, I get one at the start of each month, but sometimes 10 days spring training has begun, and then the next one is a couple of weeks after spring training, after I've already made some roster decisions. Seems like at the end of ST there would be new scouting info based on what happened in ST, and I would like to have that ASAP, not just on the scheduled monthly report. Thanks! |

Front office>Player Development>Open Player Development Report (Tab in upper right corner) Once you have there is a menu for "important" (default) and "all" reports. Select "all" and the reports are there divided monthly. Is it delivered automatically to your box? No, but it can be seen at anytime, IE if a player is scouted on the 15th you don't have to wait 'til the first of the month to see the changes. So in your case you can go to the development report on whatever day you like (Jan 1, last day of ST, opening day, etc.) and see all updated reports for the last three months. There is also a menu to go back to reports that are at least 1, 2, or 3 years old. I think this will give you what you need with a couple of clicks? Another more tedious way is to go for the "slow" user is go to.. Scouting>Recently Scouted Add a filter for your organization to get a list of all of your players scouted that day. There is also a date menu that allows you to include all players since January 1. This way is a bit more tedious in that you only get the list of players and only see their current ratings based on whatever view you are using. IE you won't know if those ratings have changed. To see the most recent scouting updates you need to open the player and open his scouting tab. However once you open the first player you can quickly scroll through all of the players on the list by simply hitting the down button. Each player you scroll to will still be on their scout page. I do this daily in my game to see every player's scouting reports in real time. I get that many users wouldn't want to take the time to do this (a "big" day might include 5 players, while many times there are none), but I play out every game and review many daily results throughout my league. The scouting reports for my organization are just a part of that. Hope all of this is of some help.
