New PT mission set review

I love the card design, and that we are finally getting a set of current players that can play in tourneys (and even a few on the main squad).

Overall, great idea and good execution.

Making it a 'complete the entire collection of live cards' for the first mission set was also a good idea, should give the live cards a bit more life going through the end of the cycle.

My one big complaint:

I was really surprised there wasn't a mission for completing all 30 missions. I assume that either the toppers will be required in a future mission or the 2nd mission set will include having to complete the first mission set - but there should have absolutely been a reward for completing all 30 teams.

Even if it wasn't a topper, a perfect pack would have been something at least. I was disappointed by that.

Love the cards - a bit over powered though.

Gotta love how people are attempting to sell live Irons for over 100PP. These cards are the lowest of common denominators in the game and are the cards you dread getting in pack pulls. By Saturday, they'll be bid back down to 10PP each.

Attempting? I sold probably 30-40 irons in the first few hours after the missions came out for between 450-1200 each

It's just dumb, though. I bought up all the low-priced irons I didn't already have right after the missions dropped (I'm only missing 14 of them), and I can wait a couple of days for the rest. The only way this makes sense is if you're after one of the truly elite cards (there are about half a dozen) and don't mind sinking a few extra thousand into garbage cards because they complete those missions. Then you replace designated hitter X or first baseman Y with Soto or Freeman on Thursday and get what, one extra win in this week's league play? It could, but probably won't, make a difference.

I wouldnt say overpowered, but the elite ones are "similiar" to some of the immortal cards. It provides a healthy alternative to them, so that you dont get your butt whooped in diamond/gold.

If you get all the pitchers in the set you have a staff that can compete in Diamond Leagues. Similarly, Carter-Carroll-Soto-Freeman-Olson-McLain-Bichette leaves you a 3B and C away from a Diamond-worthy lineup. You can probably get tolerable guys for those two positions for about 75K total.

I feel like there has to be another shoe to drop on these. No Acuna or Ohtani cards. Most teams got their 2nd or third best player represented. In fact there has never been a decent Acuña card that I can remember. He’s way overdue. Just as an aside, can we please get a playable catcher for less than 70k? I’ve been in gold for the most part and struggle to have me hit .240. Couple of times I’ve made it to diamond they’ve struggled to hit the Mendoza line.

There will be plenty more PT Elite cards coming in different forms: Mission rewards, packable cards and tournament rewards. As we said on stream, there will be at least 2 players for every team represented, so if a team's best player didn't make it as a mission reward in this set, there's still plenty of time for them to show up in PT Elite. Basically, this ain't all for PT Elite.

They're certainly eveners and a much better value than Immortals, where you spend a few hundred thousand for a random draw which could turn into Mark Belanger. Like BAL, you can target just the guy you need rather than depend on randomness.

I like them. Lately, the Missions are starting to make a little sense and to address some of the problems that we squeaky wheels have been complaining about.

Thanks to the team for listening.
