Should I purchase OOTP 24 on Steam or from the website
I haven't purchased the game since OOTP 22, and I'm pretty sure I downloaded via Steam. What are the differences between Steam and downloading it off the OOTP website? Not sure which I should use.
Eventually I want to add stadium mods and photos to my historical replays. Does one make that easier to do than the other? Any advice would be appreciated. |

I think the difference is that Steam will automatically install the patches.
I prefer buying direct to avoid cluttering my laptop with Steam for one game and provide a tiny bit of extra profit for OOTPD. I don't know about mods. |

Steam workshop has historical stadiums, historical logos, historical uniforms, and the complete universe face gen pack. Makes it as simple as "subscribing" to the mods you want d'load and install them from within the game.
If you're looking for historical photos and not face gens I don't believe they are in the Steam Workshop. I don't know if the mod forum has actual photos or not, I only use face gen. Hope that helps. |

If you buy direct then Steam doesn't take 30% of your money that would otherwise go to the devs.
I have all of the historical stadiums, logos, uniforms and player faces and everything works fine. Last edited by uruguru; 11-22-2023 at 05:12 PM. |

Always buy direct so you have complete control of your game.

I bought from Steam for the first time this year and there is no difference. I’m going back to direct next year to help with getting new features.

Well it depends...
I bought OOTP15 back in the day via direct, or whatever they called it, and that game is now lost forever because there's no support of me to get my missing product keys. I will happily give Steam my money now because the support is better and my keys will never be lost. I don't think the point is valid anymore that you should buy direct so that the devs get all the profits. OOTPD is not the same company that it was a few years ago. It's owned by a giant mobile gaming corp who doesn't give two stinks about any of us. Steam Pros: Never lose keys Auto-updates Steam achievements Steam Workshop Direct Pros: You aren't booted offline if you want to have a second app within Steam running You can control when and if you update

The "devs" are now only employees of the publisher. You're not helping them
