Rust and mid-season acquisitions
here's a problem: in real life, if an FA signs after opening day, like May or June, he doesn't go right to the big leagues. Say a guy went unsigned due to the attached compensation, and once the draft has passed now he has suitors. An MLB team signs him for an MLB deal, but they put him in the minors to get up to speed.
In OOTP, the same exact scenario occurs, but I see no way to put this guy in the minors. He refuses demotion, its a major league contract, etc.
To solve this, allow a similar approach as the rehabbing to minors for injury. If a guy was signed to an MLB deal after opening day, you get some amount of time (15, 20, etc days) where he can get the rust off.
Maybe even a rust meter, if we wanted to go that far. Right now when a guy comes back after 3 weeks on the IL, its a guess as to whether he's ready or not. Why not have a rust meter, and only display it when a guy has seen no action due to injury, non-use, or being an FA.
But that's not necessary to solve the major issue here. Bring ootp in line with reality and let me put a June FA acquisition through a few minor league games so he can reacclimate to 95mph pitches.
