Ratings

In what world...

I stated a new game with Live Start on 7 November and went to Free Agents and Mitch Garver who hit .260 with 19 HR's is a 4.5 Star player and the number one rated Free Agent and Shohei who hit .304 with 44 HR's is a 3.5 Star player?

How? How does this happen?

Does the rating change when you make Ohtani a hitter? He's a SP in that list. Some of the Garver issue may be scouting related.

Are you having OOTP set players' overall and potential ratings based on ALL players or only on the players at their positions? That has a huge effect on the overall and potential ratings that you will see, and you should base it on all players to get the kind of results you prefer.

However, as LandsdowneSt indicated, this could also be an issue with your scouts' accuracy (if you're using scouting in your game).

Also, overall and potential ratings are not based on stats. They are based on the players' ratings. They are also not based on a player's ability to hit for average or hit home runs. Overall and potential ratings are a summary of ALL the player's ratings, including all offensive and defensive categories. Thus, if two players have the same contact, gap, power, eye and avoid Ks ratings, but one is a great fielder and the other is average or below-average, the one with excellent defensive ratings will almost certainly get more stars in his overall rating.

Dang, I did have it set to all players and not by position. Thanks, I will reset and see what happens.
