CPU draft logic is garbage

The consensus #1 pick isnt going until #3. The consensus #2 pick Eiserman was drafted 30th overall. Random players with 2-3 star potentials are being drafted in the top 5 over sure fire obvious picks. Something is clearly extremely wrong. with draft logic right now.

I also had a very bizarre draft that didn't follow the Mock Draft very closely. I wasn't going to say anything until I got to try another one, but since someone else mentioned it...

Something's definitely off, Oremba always seems to go early despite his ratings not being anywhere near as good as the others. Checking into it.

Attributes for draft eligible prospects

I've also noticed no prospects being drafted into the NHL have any categorical rating above 14, they seem to top out there until the age of 20 no matter what development path is taken. Would be nice an to see an extremely dominant prospect every couple of years, with for example, a 16 rated offensive category but 11 rated defense, instead of 1OA being some version of 14,14,14,13 every year.

Bedard & Celebrini would be dynamite for the Hawks though!

I would be more concerned about whichever team was able to grab Eiserman at 30 tbh, that team would be a problem.

Could have something to do with the new scouting system? Maybe teams are overrating their own scouts biases or something ?

No, it looks like a flaw in the potential calculation that mainly affects 19-20-year olds. They're getting rated much higher than they should be. Working on a fix.

Edit: got it now, I think. Sam Oremba goes in round 7 now, Celebrini is #1.

Just wondering, is this fix live now? or will it not be until the next hotfix?

Thank you.

I simmed all the way to the draft in a new game using the hot fix. There is some improvement, but I still saw Eiserman go 34th and Levshunov go 27th. I wasn't controlling any team. It still could use some work or maybe it's just the player ratings/potential?

I think I have them rated a little low at the moment, I'll change that.

I also want to note some very odd post draft behaviour:

1) The instant a draft is complete that all players are re-rated instantly (their potentials), and usually downwards. Nice to get feedback about how good/bad your scouting was, but extremely odd to get it that quickly. And then I don't see much for major changes including well into their development.

2) I am finding free agents aged 19-21 that are much higher quality than basically any picks past the 1st round. They also seem to get an instantaneous potential re-rate the moment they sign with me (always slightly lower).

I am on about my 7th? FHM10 season, so I don't think I am imagining this. Should note I played 100+ seasons in FHM9 past things felt quite a bit different as well regarding the draft potentials of players and scouting performance.

Sorry for the qualitative take, but something is definitely different. Maybe some is intended?

Actually regarding my post above, it renders drafting useless. Just wait until after the draft and target the newly crowned best picks that are revealed, and then buy them from those teams. Drafting yourself is an exercise in futility.

I think what is happening is your internal scouts are way more accurate the second the draft is finished.
