Regions Not Producing Players Correctly (Redux)
This is a followup to a post I made in the general discussion forum that didn't get any response. It is appearing more likely this is a bug.
In the world I created, each of the states of the United States is an individual nation while the Canadian Provinces are states of the nation of Canada. Each of the states turned into nations consists of a single state of the same name: so the nation of Connecticut has a single state named Connecticut. My understanding is that a feeder league will determine what is "local talent" first by looking to the team region, then to the nation/city. At least it's supposed to work that way and testing seems to bear this out . . . EXCEPT It looks like the game works if the region selected consists ONLY of states from the same nation as the nation of the team. Otherwise it will ignore the region and look to the settings of the parent league (the league being fed). I don't think, in general, the region of the Feeder League has any impact at all. Here is what I found (I change the settings so no random talent was generated). 1. A team with a nation of Connecticut has only Connecticut players. 2. A team with a region of the Canadian Maritimes consists only of players from that region (note that I set the team city to Vancouver, BC and this was ignored as I hoped/expected). 3. A team with nation of California and city of Los Angeles has players that are only from California and appear to be from near Los Angeles. So those are all working as expected. After that it breaks down. 4. My team with a region of Canadian Territories and no nation or city has players from all over the US/Canada (this is consistent with the region of the parent league but not the region of the feeder league). The two Canadian players that were generated are from the territories however, which can't be random since those territories have tiny populations. 5. My team with a region of USA & Canada: Western Border (which consists on the nations of ID, MT, and AK and the "states" of AB, BC, and SK), and a nation of Idaho only has players from Idaho. 6. I redid #5 but changed it so the region consisted only of states (the states with ID, MT & AK that make up those nations and the three Canadian provinces). Same result. Anyway, it looks like this same issue was reported and acknowledged as a bug back in 2021. https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/....php?p=4801378 It appears to still be around. |

It's tricky to catch all the scenarios. I believe right now it will match nation and region for filling, so yeah, if the region is spread across multiple nations, it will tend to ignore the second nations, right? We'll have to look into whether that's an easy fix for the future.
