Are ratings changes when importing an older file... random?
Hey guys.
I imported a '23 file to '24 and looked at a sample group of players' ratings per OSA and per my scout. Then I repeated the process and imported the same file again. And the ratings were different again, per both OSA and scout. They're different every time I do it, importing the same file. Does this confirm a random ratings scrambling during conversions? Is that something that can maybe get "fixed" in future versions? |

I think it confirms that players are scouted differently with each import. Makes sense as the game has to re-scout everyone within the new version.
I've imported my game into each new version from v2 through v24. Players may have ratings that look different due to the under the hood changes that were made. Due to new features (framing for c's as an example a version of two ago) a player could be rated significantly higher than before. However for the most part players will continue to be "who they were". |

I think the thing you'd need to test if its a true random scramble under the hood (ie: Joey Bagodonuts imports with a 215 Outfield Range, then if you import the same file again he imports with a 190 Outfield Range instead), or if its just a matter of scouting where you import the file and OSA/your Scout guess he has about 75 Outfield Range, then if you import again this time their guess is that he's closer to 65 Outfield Range.

This somehow reminds me of something a medical buddy of mine explained about genetics. The reason siblings (other than twins) are not identical, is that each baby is a product of a dice throw of the parents’ genetic traits. In other words, there is a limited range of possible outcomes from two parents. But within that range, there can be considerable variation from child to child.
Just so, I would think, with scouting values over hundreds of players. There should be parameters and limits and probable ranges, but within that reasonable scouts’ minds may vary over time. I set scouting to high accuracy, rather than deal with too much variability.

Try setting the scouting accuracy in the new game to 100% before the comparison.
