Importing League With Random Historical Debuts - How To Get Recent Players?

I haven't played OOTP in a couple years, and the last version I owned is OOTP 21.

If I buy OOTP 24, my understanding is that I can import my OOTP 21 league although I may need to have the development team help me out since it's multi-year. I really don't want to lose my league!

However...I have a historical league going with random debuts of real-life MLB players. If I upgrade to OOTP 24, will it start including players from 2021-2023 in those random debuts, or am I stuck with a "historical roster" of 1876-2020 only? I'd like to be able to include the more modern players. Thanks!
