Ridiculous Trades
Trade Proposal:
Cody Bradford / SP / AAA / Texas 50/40/55/40/40 25 yrs old Chicago Cubs Offer: David Bote/2B 40/45/45/30/30 30 yrs old Miguel Amaya/C 45/40/60/50/50 24 yrs old Matt Mervis/1B 45/60/50/50/55 25 yrs old You mean to tell me the AI won't take that trade? Would someone explain why? I can't make ANY trades in this game. Am I doing something wrong? Any assistance would be great. Thanks. |

Just my 2 cents, Bote at 4 million X 4 years isn't attractive as they have Simien, Seager and Jung at the 3 spots Bote can play. Other 2 positions that Mervis and Amaya play, are not major needs. Texas has older starting pitchers that Bradford may replace in a year two.

So the trading is THAT difficult in this game? Perhaps this game isn't for me. Hard to improve your team when you start with -$26,000,000 and can't pull off any trades apparently. Thanks for the reponse, though.

Bote's contract is garbage. It's not a huge amount that handcuffs a team, but it is a legit major league level salary for a lot of years for a player who is not a major league player. (total side note, but big props to Bote for negotiating that deal at the first hint of success that he had --- knowing it wouldn't last).
Removing Bote from the deal would make TX more likely to accept. But in the event that TX still won't accept, to millhousebc's point - 1st base is not normally a "need" position. You can find a guy to play adequate defense a knock a few out of the park at 1B with relative ease. And Amaya's stock in this game probably isn't particularly high. I know he was a relatively solid prospect a few years ago, but he dealt with some injuries and unproductive minor league years and was kind of a forgotten man in the offseason and the start of this year and given that is when OOTP was grading out players, Amaya probably isn't the most coveted guy in the world. And I think he's out of option years if I'm not mistaken (I might be wrong). That lowers his value a bit too since he pretty much has to stick with the MLB roster and if you want to put him in AAA to develop a bit more, you cant. And millhousebc pretty much nailed it from TX's standpoint - they have no use for Bote and Bradford could factor in to their plans in the near future as DeGrom, Eovaldi and others are getting older and more fragile by the minute. If you're new to the game I am going to offer up a major piece of advise. For less than $10mil a year, you can find under the radar starting pitchers who give you very similar or better ratings and production as certain guys who are making $20mil despite not having off the charts ratings. The names I mentioned above being a few of those guilty parties. Last edited by md40022; 08-16-2023 at 06:23 PM. |

You can always turn trading down to an easier level if you wish.

Others have already mentioned this, but adding a guy with a bad contract to a deal will have the AI crapping on the offer pretty quick. Sometimes you can unload a bad contract if you're willing to throw in a good prospect, but don't expect anything worthwhile in return.
