Bug? Scouting Discrepancy on different screens
First, I know that the number of "stars" is not really important, but...
I'm looking at a draft pool and noticing a discrepancy in the "star rating" of some of the players in the draft when I go between different tabs on their profile. I'm wondering if this is purely a cosmetic glitch and irrelevant if the ratings are the same, or if it is some indicator of future volatility of the player, and he might regress or something. Scouting is set to 100% accurate. Here's an example in this current draft class: SP is 17 years old with 4 undeveloped pitches. He is STU 65 MOV 80 CON 55 When I sort on the draft pool page, it shows him as a 4 star player. When I go to Profile, then summary tab it also says he's a 4 star pitcher. BUT, when I go to the Scouting tab, the STU MOV CON ratings stay the same, but the stars go to 2 stars and the report says "likely bound for journeyman status." I am seeing differences quite often for SP. For older 22 yr old college prospects, it usually isn't more than .5 or 1.0 star difference. But there's a big difference for the 17-18 year old HS prospects. One 4.5 star lights out SP on the summary tab drops to a 1.5 star on the scouting tab. Is this a bug? Is it some indicator that the player won't develop? Should I consider this at all. (If it matters, I'm picking as an expansion team so I really want to minimize risk.) |

When you view the players in the list, or when looking at the summary page, you're seeing their current 100% accurate ratings. If you were to go into the editor and change a player you would see those changes reflected immediately in those areas.
When you flip to the scouting page in the player's profile you're seeing a saved snapshot from your scout (and OSA) from a certain date. If the player had changed between the time of the last scouting report and present day you could see a difference. Asking for a report from your scout will update the scouting page and it will match what you see in the other areas. Last edited by snepp; 08-14-2023 at 02:15 PM. |

Depending on the league setting for scouting report update frequency those OSA reports you see in the scouting tab will update periodically. As long as you remain aware that the saved reports could be old (it displays date of last report) that page is still useful. Any significant talent changes will be reflected at the next round of report updates.

Saw this 20 to 80 fella go from 80 to 35 & swapped scouting to 20 to 80 (w/o the 5 increments) and 1 to 100 overall ratings. All scouting shows is some improvement to drop his potential (should have centered the scouting report a bit better, but it's the one at the very bottom). They're both starting pitchers. I suppose I'll also note that he does have four pitches. No scout updates about that so unsure if something changed there. But it shows a fastball @ 40/60, curveball 25/40, changeup 20/80, sinker 40/70. He signed for the IAFA max, so it seems the AI valued him more than this 35 (was one of the first signings). I also see on history that "named the #85 prospect in baseball." This was in March of the year after. Can't check commish mode cause of Challenge. Alas Last edited by zevus; 09-09-2023 at 10:01 PM. |
