Cannot load database because its from a previous version

For the second time a save I have put a lot of time into is in jeopardy. I lost power due to a storm and now my game wont load. I have already done the troubleshooting of copying DAT files and replacing them and its not working. I seriously cannot begin to describe how frustrated I am to be going through this with yet another save. I will not be starting over again, so if this cant be saved that's fine, I will just be done. Thanks for any help.

I think Im screwed. Now the date of the game wont even appear. I think this is the end of the road for my OOTP. I absolutely refuse to start over again as I am devastated.

First, off typically if the save is corrupt, you can restore from the autosave function.

To restore from the automatic backup, do the following:

1) Open the game and on the start screen, click on Settings.

2) Now click on the tab "Troubleshooting".

3) Click "Open folder containing saved games".

4) Now open up the league folder you're wanting to restore.

5) Then select all of the .dat files in the folder and back them up (just in case) by copying them to a temporary folder or creating a zipped file with them

6) Open the folder called "auto-save".

7) In there, select all of the ".dat" files and copy them to the league folder (the parent of the current folder) overwriting all of the ".dat" files in the league folder.

8) Now start the game and load your league.

Did you miss where it says I already did that?

EDIT: Fixed the issue with the Live Start as my plan b and now the game crashes every single freaking time I try to implement FaceGen pictures to players. Lmao this is freaking ridiculous. Had no problems and now every freaking thing is a nightmare. So close to saying F it and deleting it.

If the above steps don't work to restore the game, unfortunately there's very likely nothing else that can be done to restore the game. It's always a good idea to keep an extra backup of any important saves in case something like this happens.

Unfortunately, this is typically caused by something on your system, it's not something that comes from the game itself. So not the result of a bug f.e.

There are a few things that can cause corruption. This potentially includes unexpected system shutdowns or crashes while a league is saving, bad sectors on the hard drive the game is saved to, memory glitches on your computer (especially possible if the league is left open for very long periods of time without the game being shut down or restarted) or interference from other programs, especially disk cleaners or anti-virus programs.

It sounds like losing power screwed your system up and caused the corruption of the game. That's something far beyond our control to be able to prevent.

If you have corruption of a save in situations where you didn't lose power (which it sounds like happened before to you), some of what you might do to prevent that from coming up again would be to regularly defrag your hard drive as well as check it for errors, don't leave OOTP open and running with a league loaded overnight or for long periods when you are not actually using the game, make sure to shut your computer off or at least restart it occasionally and also run as few other programs in the background at the same time as OOTP as possible. For programs that need to be running at the same time, like an anti-virus or firewall, it's a good idea to add OOTP to their whitelist and to create an exception for OOTP's directories if you use some sort of automated disk cleaner.

Yeah I gave up on the save but now every time I create a new one the game crashes when I try to implement Faces for players. Why? Works for MLB players only, works for coaches, but not MiLB. Never had this issue before, can you please tell me how to fix the game crashing? I have even uninstalled and reinstalled.
