Because some people aren't patient enough to build their team up slowly, so they gamble, crash, and burn. Did they derive the initials of Perfect Team (PT) from PT Barnum?

Well...OOTP's goal is to make money, so more power to them. I'm happy every time there's a new way for players to waste money outside the card shop, and maybe depress those card prices a little at the same time. This should make some of those diamond card missions cheaper to complete once the unneeded Diamonds get dumped. Maybe Duke Snider will even drop below 100,000.

Two types of packs I would be interested in are Negro Leagues and Future Legends.

NeL and FL packs would be terribly expensive, since they would trivialize the missions for those card sets. Alternatively, the missions for these card sets would pay off with a couple of regular packs, so nobody would do them.

As a former business owner & seeing some of the prices of packs & cards it kinda made me chuckle & made some of those comments. But being a business owner at the time I come to realize the overheard that comes with owning a business. That being said you have options....buy packs or don't, Buy cards or don't, buy OOTP or don't. Understand this business & not their hobby. OOTP has been goning on for about 25 years or more & every year they put of something new and mostly awesome. Don't forget OOTP 24 GO. I've been here since Season Ticket (that i bought in a box in a video game store 24+ years ago) and the evolution of the game is frankly unbelievable, but you'd just have to know what I'm talking about to understand. I've had my issues with OOTP but have come to terms with those issues. As many people here (even he whiners) will continue playing this game until we probably dead. You can call me all the cute, insulting names you want, but I just don't care. Remember your options, Play, Pay or not. Just enjoy the best edition, version of baseball you'll ever play or don't. Insulting the game & developers is childish IMO as I've come to realize. The team at OOTP has helped me through several problems. I'm ready for the insulting comments

You're ready to be insulted? Well, how about this: Great comment! I've made reasonable complaints at times, and occasionally found the game quite frustrating for whatever reason - but it's an incredible game, and PT has always been very kind to F2P players compared to any other card collecting game.

I am always amused by those that whine about those that they call whiners. It is not whining to point out that which one thinks is not good about any product. Whether you agree or not is irrelevant; unless you give a valid response.

The answer to your original question is fairly obvious - it's called gambling.

I bought a 50K perfect pack on one of my teams that I barely do anything with and pulled a 300K perfect. 1 for 1! That's why. End of story. People buy a 22K diamond historical pack because the odds of pulling something great are much higher; even if the overall odds of getting your money back long-term are lower. Higher risk, higher reward.

Of course, I bought a few hundred perfect packs last year when I did a firesale of two of my teams with the intent to resell everything and keep buying perfect packs - and I ran out of PP eventually, lol, it doesn't pay off long-term. You're not wrong that it's a poor investment overall, but why people buy them seems blatantly obvious to me.
