Need new cards!

I've been playing everyday. I see the same players on every team!

*Need more variety of classic/recent star ballplayers!
*A little too much emphasis on Negro Leagues.
*Need more/less position availability for the current cards. There are a lot of guys who have 1 position who should have 2-3. There are a ton of guys (mostly Live cards that can play anywhere - that needs to change!)
*Where are all the good infielders?!
*Catchers need to be more impactful
*why does every closer have crappy control?!

please feel free to add..

Points generally well taken.

You'll always see the same players, mostly because there is one best player at each position. And one second-best player at each position. They make up the vast majority of the playing time. It doesn't take long for a community of thousands to figure out who they are, and then the stumbling block is acquiring them through purchases or mission completions.

The tiered league system then matches the best set of teams against each other, and the second-best sets of teams against each other, etc., which reinforces that sameness because they are, in theory, evenly matched--which means that most or all of them have the best or second-best players for that level of play. At the lower levels, teams which have acquired more of the top players earlier will run up insane won-loss records, but they are rapidly promoted until they reach a level appropriate to their player quality, which again means that they have those same one or two players at each position.

Take shortstop for an example. Lower levels, it's Pee Wee Reese. Move up a couple of notches and it's George Davis or Willie Wells. Lately, Wells has been replaced by the new Yount and A-Rod cards, which will become the new shortstops of choice. In Diamond and below, you'll still see Wells for the most part because he's the established Number One and has been available for quite a while.

----------------------------------------

For the rest, I agree that Negro Leagues get too much emphasis, but that actually adds variety to the game. Great shortstops of the 1920s? Joe Sewell. Dave Bancroft. Add Willie Wells.

Catcher defense needs to re-enter the equation. It was far too important in past versions of PT, but now it seems nonexistent.

Position availability creates a lot of problems with the mission streams and player variety. In theory, every center fielder should easily handle left field. Let them all train up to 100 defense in left and you'll quickly find all the left fielders relegated to DH or bench duty.

Good infielders? Second base has always been the problem, and that's because great gloves play short and great bats move elsewhere.

Not every closer has lousy control. Check out 99 Roy Face and his 107 control. It's mostly true, though, because closers tend to have overwhelming stuff and a good change-up. Control is of lesser importance when you're pitching one inning and trying to strike everybody out.
