I've recently heard that if you played last year, you can have 6 teams without buying the game a 2nd time. Is this true or is it a bug people are exploiting? If you played since 19 can you have 3 teams for each year?

It's true, assuming you mean by "without buying the game a 2nd time" that you don't need to buy 2 copies of OOTP 24. Your 3 accounts from OOTP 23 (assuming you actually created all 3) carry forward to OOTP 24 (same username and password to log in). The new license for OOTP 24 gives you 3 new accounts as well.

This only goes back to last year, since the whole "backend servers had to change providers" thing that happened last year. But in years prior, you carried over the 3 teams from each prior version without any limit.

I had 3 teams last year, but 1 was Go, so only 2 from the desktop license. I started a new team in PT24 yesterday which I suppose I could start in PT23 retroactively?

True as far as I can see. All six of my teams this year are on the same license. I assume it is intentional since EVCinNYC touted the notion of adding three more teams multiple times on his Twitch channel and nobody from OOTPB said otherwise. That's where I learned about it.

Yes, and from now on, I name them usernameootp@.... so I know which email goes to which account just in case there is another redo in the future.
