OOTP Steam Deck compatibility
Hello, all. I discovered a curiosity upon recently downloading all of the OOTP games onto my Steam Deck. Here's what I unearthed:
OOTP 17- Deck Compatible 18- The Steam Deck compatibility icon says it doesn't have enough information, but I downloaded it anyway to see. When I opened it, it experienced an error and crashed on startup. 19- The same as 18 20- The same as 18 and 19 21- The same as 18, 19, and 20 22- Compatible 23- Compatible 24- Says that it's not compatible, but I downloaded it anyway to see. When I opened it, it loaded up normally and took me to the main screen, just like 17, 22, and 23. It's really interesting to me that OOTP hasn't made all of its previous titles Steam Deck compatible--specifically when OOTP 17 was, but the next four years' worth of titles did not play on the deck. Does anyone have any legitimate reasons for why this might be? I'd be interested to know, or to see if it was simply an oversight or coding/porting error. Also, re: OOTP 24, it's interesting that it said it was not Deck compatible. That alarmed me at first, as it seemed OOTP was going backward in that regard, but as I mentioned above, it did seem to work. I don't know if that's a miscommunication from the OOTP side or the Steam side, but it might be something worth clearing up (Especially for potential buyers on the Steam Deck). Hopefully, this information is helpful to some of you. Last edited by chicagomaroon; 06-13-2023 at 11:58 AM. Reason: To clear up any confusion with how I worded certain parts of my post |

Regarding the Steam Deck, I have some questions as I have never used one but have been interested in getting it.
When I play OOTP on PC I can go to program files (x86)>Steam>steamapps>common>Out of the Park Baseball 24>data to get to all of the game folders that have editable files and folders for ballparks, jerseys, logos and other things. Since the Steam Deck uses its own operating system, is it still possible to navigate to these folders? |
