Historical Challenges

Is there a little more instructions of how to win the challenges? The instructions are kind of vague. What can/cannot do to be successful? Can I add new players? Shouldn't add players? Should I make historical trades?
I tried the Colorado challenge, when Roy came, but Roy did not come. I also tried to trade for him, and that wasn't happening. LOL.
I m currently one of the new Leafs 03/04 challenge. Do I not add anyone? young ones? can I change a percentage?...stuff like that.
I honestly have not tried many, due to this.

I had the same problem. I knew Roy would not automatically come, but I thought there was something in the code that, after the infamous nine-goal game, would make Roy available. Instead, that is basically not possible. And, it goes almost without saying, that the roster as-is won't win a title.

You can do what you want within the confines of the game. You have the Colorado team, but no, you don't automatically get Roy. So finding a goalie may be a priority in that save. You can sign FAs, trade, etc - do what you want to hit the goal.
