Double Elimination Format OOTP 23
Two questions re OOTP's DE tournament format.
1) Why is there a three-game final series, when a two-game final is traditionally the format? A three-game final gives an advantage to the representative from the losers' bracket. A traditional two-game final forces that team, which has already lost a game, to win both games successively in the final, which is fitting. But the three-game final allows the losers' bracket winner to also lose the first game of the final (which would be their second loss of the tournament, thus should eliminate them) before they might finally rally to win the last two games of that series. So, via the OOTP format, the losers' bracket representative is allowed to lose two tournament games & continue playing, while the winners' bracket rep is instead eliminated after losing two tournament games. I'm sure there's a sensible explanation for the change here.
2) If the Double Elimination format has a key advantage (vs. Single Elimination) of determining the 3rd-place and the 4th-place team independently, without having to play a "consolation game," why does OOTP give equal pack rewards to both teams? Would be simple & inarguable to give the 3rd-place owner three packs & the 4th-place owner one pack or whatever the differentiation.
