AI doing things I don’t want it to

I really enjoy playing fictional leagues, and when I set up a new one I like to advance the clock a few years before I myself take control of a team, to build up a bit of league history. However I’m finding that the game seems to be making player moves and transactions automatically that I don’t want it to.

For example, I just set up a new fictional league with 8 teams. Without changing any of the settings, including all the manager settings (meaning that I should have been in charge of all roster moves, major league free agent signings etc), I autoplayed through to the end of the first season. However when I then tried to play the game and run my team as normal, the AI kept doing things with my team that I didn’t want it to.

For instance, I would demote a player to the AAA roster. Then IÂ’d advance the day, and the player would appear back on the active roster again. Another example: the game automatically switched one of my relievers into the rotation.

Also, in early November I checked my pending transactions screen, and found that offers had automatically been made to major league free agents I didnÂ’t want. I’d withdraw the offer, advance the game a day, and the offer would reappear again.

As I say, according to the manager options screen, these were all things that I should have been controlling, not the AI. IÂ’m baffled!

Has anyone found similarly with OOTP Go 24? Is there an important setting IÂ’m missing somewhere perhaps? As it stands, the game doing things to my team that I donÂ’t want basically makes the game totally unplayable for me.

I don’t see where you would be missing something if under team control you have everything set to human. I have not run across this issue. Only thing I do every time I make a change is hit save. Try turning everything under team control back to the AI, hit save then change it all back to human and hit save again.

Did someone talk Paulie Beane out of retirement?

Yeah I tried selecting and deselecting the manager options but no joy. I almost posted this in the big reports thread, because it feels like the manager options don’t work correctly. When I choose player control over the various options, it’s like the game does give me control over my team, but at the same lets the AI have control too (so sometimes undoes what I’ve done whenever I advance the game day; and making me have to undo what the AI does which is just beyond frustrating).

No, Paulie Beane has definitely hung up his cap, but if I can get OOTP Go to behave itself on my iPad then another fictional GM may appear in the dynasty report page at some stage…!

I did, although I’m not sure why that should mean the game would start making free agent offers for my team.

But either way, it seems to be sorted. Some combination of unchecking don’t disturb, putting all the manager options to human control, saving the game, advancing the day, then returning some of the minor league options to AI control, seems to have done it!

"Do Not Disturb" alone - no matter any other settings - turns your team over to the AI. Everything.

Because when simming with it on you are telling the game that "I am simming for 1 month, 1 year, 100 years so deal with that injury or draft or whatever to keep the game running for me - don't bother me to fix any roster errors or deal with a trade offer, etc. Do Not Disturb me."

I was playing around yesterday and realise that yes you’re entirely right. It was just the “Do Not Disturb” option creating the problem.

That menu screen obviously does indeed say that selecting that option means that the game will do everything for you in auto play. Where I was getting confused was that in my head I didn’t associate advancing the game to the next day as being “auto play”.

But I get it now and everything is working fine for me. Thanks all for your help!
