Middle of Season 05, v24

As we move through the new award system in v24, I thought I would share my experience so far for what it's worth. Just a couple comments...

PT+, No doubt PT+ gives you an advantage, My Barons team, combining PT+ with the bonus packs from v19, raised me to Gold quickly - which in turn gave me another 25k of PPs to improve even further.

My Aeros team had the same advantage of the bonus packs, but did not have PT+. A few lucky pulls, and some rare achievements, however, seemed to make up the difference since the team is also in Gold at this point.

On the other side of the scale, however, my Cleveland team ALSO had the bonus packs and did NOT have PT+, and they are mired in Iron in the 5th week of the season. Bad luck can cripple you.

Tournaments; I don't know about you, but my casual attempt to include tournaments is a complete failure. Same for Perfect Team Drafts. I'm convinced that a casual approach to such options is a colossal waste of time. I fully admit that sitting in front of the PC screen for hours on end to win tournaments and PT drafts is not my cup of tea - and as such - isn't in the cards for me.

That said, I have nothing against those that DO want to play the game that way - but what it tells me is to adjust my goals for the game. Use of bonus packs, PT+, and a bit of luck and effort completing missions "might" get you into Diamond and provide some fun for a while before everyone catches up - BUT - it can also go South, like my Cleveland team, who will struggle all year to simply get back to Silver.

Ok, enough for now. I'll take another look in a month or so, but that's where my head is at the moment. I'd be curious to read what others think.

Just remember; no need for insults - these are just opinions.

My Cleveland Locomotives debuted in Rookie League this week and is doing fine. It had 5 gold and 3 diamond loyalty packs to work with, but other than that it is strictly achievement points and login rewards and NO PT+ going forward. The goal is to acquire the best 26 historical perfect cards I can afford by PT25. The interim goal is 26 historical gold cards (or better). From my diamond packs: 2 historical, Roger Connor 1B and Andre Dawson CF. Logging in once a day, opening a pack or two, look around, buy some cheap silver and gold cards I don't have with my achievement points and log out is a relaxing way to play. Later I will sell the extra cards I bought when they go up in value, rinse and repeat.
