Park Factors & Advanced Stats: Miscalculated?
Hi,
My online league began in OOTP 18 and we are in our 43rd season. We have some questions about park factors and how they impact advanced stats. We do not believe park adjusted stats are calculated correctly. We have been trying to solve this mystery for years and have been assuming that the ‘Approximate Park Factor’ modifier is what’s used to calculate park adjusted stats. Are we correct in doing so? That number is a mystery to us as well. I have posted a few examples where the Approx Park Factor number is significantly higher or lower than we expected. Atlanta for example, has an Approx. Park Factor number higher than each individual factor. Colorado has an Approximate Park Factor lower than each individual factor. How can this be? Additionally, I have posted stats of a player who played part of the year in Colorado, and part in Montreal. The park adjusted stats do not seem accurate. Our league is extremely competitive and making sense of this would help greatly. Thanks! |

Regarding overall Park Factor being closer to average (1.000) than many or even all of its particular park factors:
I had noticed this last year. Is it possible that because there are some run-scoring elements that do not vary by ballpark in OOTP (e.g., walks) that the overall Park Factor is going to be pulled toward average because it includes these universal run element values? |

Interesting theory! Could be correct. I'm hoping we get some clarification. |
