Suspension Storylines?

Are there suspensions for corked bats or sticky substances in the game?

I am not sure the MLBPA would favor such a thing and it is a licensed game... I won't expect any domestic abuse ones ever coming about either. Same reason.

If you wanted to with commissioner mode, you could suspend players via the edit menu and write news that they got suspended due to those things. But obviously you would have to do that yourself, that wouldn't happen normally in the game.

That kind of stuff happens in fictional leagues, and I'm sure you're right about why it doesn't happen in leagues with non-fictional players.

There is a folder called storylines in the install directory for the game (default My Documents). In there are several XMLs. You can edit the English one iof you are comfortable editing xml. If I recall correctly, it is like the injury file and you will need to edit it prior to creating your league.
