Convert a Retired Player to Human Manager?

I recall this same topic came up about 10 years ago and was never really decided. I play in a fictional league and am aware that I can turn a retired player into a coach but is there any way to convert a retired fictional player into a human manager, complete with his fictional facegen pic? I realize I could create a human manager with the same name and birthdate and even artificially sort of Facegen capture the appearance but that would seem to have the risk that the 'real' fictional player could turn into a coach for someone else and then there would be two of him. I also don't want to just turn him into a coach and manager because I want him to be under the same restrictions of a human manager under my control. Just wondering if anyone has figured out a way to do this? Hoping this question makes sense.

You answered your own question. Create him and name him.

If by some chance another coach shows up in the future under the same name, then just rename that coach.

There's no switch in the game to prevent a name from being reused.

Thanks Bluenoser. Yeah I was hoping to be able to convert him because otherwise, I can't seem to find a way to preserve his fictional Facegen to re-use as his manager face (except maybe screen capture the fictional one and make it into a photo). Also if I rename him if he shows up as an AI coach later, then I lose his entire player history associated with his real name. In other words if the fictional equivalent of Babe Ruth is the guy I want to make into my manager, then if I manually create him and the retired Babe becomes a coach, renaming him means the leaderboard now changes his name. In any case, I appreciate the advice and you confirming there's no way to switch him into a human player. Thanks!

Not sure if this works for fictional players (but it should). You can choose to retire the player, and then should be given the option to retain as coach, which gets him into the personnel field, at which point you can choose for him to seek a job as a manager. I've done it with players who became minor league managers and MLB been coaches, with decent results. They start with no experience (duh) but a wealth of skills.

Just thought of something… There’s no way to have a player/manager in the game ala Frank Robinson or Pete rose, correct? That would be a fun option to have in fictional leagues… Appoint player as manager.
