New Stadium

I waited 4-5 seasons before trying to build a new stadium.
In that time, the owner was willing to kick in more and more money till he basically was willing to pay for the entire project.
Problem is, for those 3 years my salary (bottom of the screen) was showing ridiculously high amounts. Between 300-500M!
I could not sign any free agents or even my unsigned prospects.

3 years pass, stadium is built and I fully expected things to return to normal.
But, my salary says $574M!!!
I don't understand the finance here. The owner was paying for this and it seems like I am paying for it every step of the way.
Btw, I play with no cap and my actually salary is 121M

It just seems odd that a new stadium under any circumstances would be tacked onto my players salary.
Can anyone explain this to me?
