Crash on return from KVM switch
This issue started manifesting itself in OOTP 23, I was hoping it would have been fixed for '24, but not so.
If I have OOTP running (and I always run in full screen in Steam on an Ubuntu box), using my KVM, I switch control to a different computer. When I return, OOTP 23 & 24 crashes. I can see the Steam app button switches from Running to Play. This ONLY happens for me with OOTP, as I have other Steam games, and none have this issue. I have had to get into the habit of saving and quitting every time I need to switch computers, a little frustrating to say the least. This worked just fine in OOTP '22. Is there a crash log somewhere I can provide to help with this one? Thanks and regards, Eric Katz |

Hi Eric! What is the KVM, is it like Teamviewer? Can you try in Windowed mode please?

Hi Andreas,
It's a physical box that I use to switch my Keyboard / Video / Mouse from one computer to another computer. Same behavior whether in Windows Mode or Full Screen, OOTP quits when i return to the box running Steam. Last edited by erickatz; 04-03-2023 at 03:05 PM. |

Thanks. That's interesting! But I'm afraid there's not much we can do here to help
Our log files don't contain info about the code on such a "low level" like keyboard driver. Anyway I will report this to the team to let them know about it. But I'll have to close this thread because it's a use case for which we don't give support.Personally, I got rid of such switches long time ago when I found that I can just run all those additionals computers (PC, Servers, Windows, Mac) via Teamviewer (or VCN) easily. Not the best solution for everything, but for most stuff it's working so nicely, I always wonder how they do that. |
