Facegen and Menu Display

The game is great but from a cosmetic point of view the facegens are too large and the menus are close together, can I fix this?

Hmmmm.... Check the display size options in File>Settings, as it is not like this on many other folks' screen, so it's not a universal game issue.

I had this same problem and just figured out what was going on.

I went into my Windows display settings and changed the size of text, apps, and other items from 125% which was recommended to 100%. Had no idea it was even set to that in the first place. Everything looks fine now.

I have the same issue as Nick. Changing display setting to 100% just makes everything on my computer too small. Facegens on Strategy screen are too large and overlap text.

Did the change to 100% fix the in-game issue though, regardless of what it did outside of the game to the rest of your computer. Because that can always be changed back when not playing, if needed. Otherwise, the issue might be in the File>Settings, Interface tab with the display options.

It did fix the Facegen issue, albeit with everything smaller in general, so I'll either get used to that or just deal with it. I didn't have this issue with OOTP 23, but it's far from a deal-breaker.

It’s a good point. I’ve played OOTP 23 & 22 on this same laptop and didn’t have to tweak from 125 to 100 which is something that hadn’t occurred to me until your comment. Will have to check Landsdowne’s suggestion though.

I am having this issue as well and didn't have the issue in previous years. I have a 4K screen and my default/recommended scale is 250%. Changing it to 100% makes the entire PC unreadable--it technically makes the facegen heads fit bettter in game but my entire screen so tiny and obviously not the way it's meant to be.

Curious why this is an issue now but not in previous years--there needs to be something I can do in-game without screwing up my computer's scale.

I played around with the File > Settings > Interface tab but wasn't able to get anything to work. I tried every single window resolution. I even duplicated my OOTP 22 setup and that didn't work. Kind of wild. The only thing that made things show up correctly was setting my display settings to 100% at 1920 x 1080. I can just toggle it on and off when I play.

I saw Landsdowne post a link in another thread which contained a thread Matt Arnold created where he offered solutions. I hadn't seen it until then. The solution to toggle the High DPI scaling override worked perfectly.

Right-click the OOTP 24 .exe file > Properties > Compatibility > check the box on High DPI scaling

Doing that on my end just made the entire game screen suuuuuper tiny and not playable.

I also have OOTP 23 still installed and none of those settings are enabled and it displays just fine on the same 4K 3840x2160 monitor.

Please help! I'm on a Macbook that 23 plays fine on, but in 24 it's super choppy. I have a feeling the solution is something related to the settings you all have talked about above, but I'm not computer savvy enough to understand. Again, during in-game play, it's super choppy, basically unplayable. Please help!

Try going to the main screen, then to settings > 3d and facegen.

On that screen, try decreasing the audience settings to the lowest possible then try in-game again. Is it any better now?

Thanks, but I've tried all that. Audience settings completely low, turning dynamic zoom off then turning off follow the ball off, etc. Still very choppy. I'm almost out of ideas. Should I try re-downloading, or something?

I really don't know. I doubt that would help, but could be worth trying.

Could you possibly upload a short video of what things look like in-game for you? That might give us some ideas.

Oh my God! You helped me, big time. I went back to audience settings and realized I'd set it to animated-low quality, instead of simplified. Now it's working! Thank you so much, you rock.

Lukas, any idea why some of us are having these display issues when we didn't in OOTP 23? I've tried the compatibility suggestions (DPI stuff) above but with no success.

No, not sure yet unfortunately

I guess from what I've seen the workarounds on Mac do not work like they used to. We'll probably have to dig into that a little deeper to see what does work.
