Pet Peeve spot starter

Maybe it is just me, but when using a spot starter, as in a doubleheader, the game skips the original starter For example I use a spot starter in place of my number 3 starter. I make no changes to my rotation to a strict order. In the next game, the computer wants to start number 4 starter., I think it should start number 3.
Has anyone else noticed or even care about this?

Wondering: do you have your Rotation Mode set to "always start highest rested"?

I play GM only and have to manually manage the starters. It's like the game can't see a doubleheader coming and doesn't set aside your spot starter in the bullpen. They would often get used in relief the day before the DH and then some rando relief guy starts the second game of the DH.

So I have to pull the spot starter out of the bullpen about 3 days before his turn will come up. There's no way I can see right now for the game to do that.

Conversely, if a period comes up with a lot of days off, I need to put my #5 starter in the bullpen so he doesn't go unused for 2-3 weeks.

No idea of the time frames you guys sim over so maybe this won't help?

Have you ever changed your rotation to 6 man as a double header was coming up and then switch back just after? Would that work over a short timeframe?

I play out my games day to day so time frame is not an issue for me. With that in mind I'll go 6 man so I don't have to keep thinking about having to save my spot starter to work around any DH's.

I keep the rotation as 6-man and the 6th slot is usually empty. Three days before I know my 6th starter will be needed, I pull him out of the bullpen and put him at #6. Then I push him back in the bullpen after his start.

If there is a period where my #5 will go without a start, I'll drop him in the bullpen.

This system works fine but you have to play game-by-game to stay on top of it.

Just to clarify, the double headers I am talking about are the ones a day after a rain out. I play out my games. There have been times that I did not notice the game skipped a starter and then that starter only has 4 days of rest.
Since I am set for strict order and the spot starter is not inserted into the rotation, the game should not skip a starter. In my opinion.
