Why would the AI have the pitcher bat

In a DH league (normal AL, real rosters), for some reason, the computer AI has Clayton Andrews not only batting, but hitting #6 and staying in as the DH after he's pulled. His ratings are awful, and he is a career .474 OPS. But for some reason the AI sits the DH when he plays. Hunter Dozier is the normal DH.

I haven't noticed this with any other pitchers not named Ohtani.

Is he set as a two-way player on the game strategy tab for some reason?

If so, he was set as one by AI.
