Traded rights AFTER signing a contract
While looking around for good young players to trade for, I came across Dave Squires, and something didn't look right.
He was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings, then signed an entry-level contract with the Kings, then was loaned back to his OHL for the 2036-37 season. This caused his three-year ELC to slide, so the ELC wouldn't really start until the 2037-38 season. Later, around the trade deadline in the 2036-37 season, the Kings traded Squires's exclusive negotiating rights as an unsigned drafted player to the New York Rangers. I believe the game let this happen because since the ELC slid, it didn't consider Squires under contract for the 2036-37 season. The next season, since Squires had a contract with the Kings, he started playing for the Kings. The New York Rangers would probably like to sign him, since they have his rights, but they can't sign a player already under contract to another team! So his player page lists him as a member of the Los Angeles Kings, while his rights are owned by the New York Rangers. |

It looks like it isn't transferring the "Contracted to" field properly for loaned players and is treating it like only the rights are moved, when there's an actual contract existing. We'll have to confirm that's the cause, but we'll definitely need to get that fixed.
