Fictional League: Japanese Baseball

The goal with this thread was to create a set of fictional Japanese teams that could be used in a saved game to allow Japanese baseball to live on in some (fictional) form after recent developments with the game's licensing. I think we are well on our way to accomplishing that goal.

There are also some stunning contributions from the community throughout this thread and elsewhere on these forums highlighted below. Thanks to everyone who has/is continuing to contribute. Hopefully, based on the totality of this thread, people will be able to add a form of Japanese baseball to their games that they are excited about.

*Properly named files can be found on Google Drive here. I set out without a plan, but think I will complete 12 teams in total. For these teams, I will plan on slowly working the franchises backwards in time, but that's more of a long-term project. The priority will be finishing this initial set of 12.

Any chance you could name them properly as you post? if not I'll continue to change them to what they should be. it's easier to load them when I know what is a logo vs what is a cap/jersey. Either way this will be much needed.

The otter logo is perfectly adorable for Japan. Great to see that there's other fictional mods coming out!

Thank you for the feedback. For now, I am going to keep using imgur for this thread. The file names will likely change in the future -- I will plan on doing some historical logos for these teams, too, so I will be adding years to the file names -- so I do not want links to Google Drive to break if the file name changes. That being said, I have posted a link to the relevant Google Drive folders in the first post of this thread. So, when I post something in this thread, you should be able to find properly named versions of the files by clicking that link. Hope that helps!

I appreciate that kudos, Brendan. I like that the Bears logo looks vaguely reminiscent of the [yogurt birds]' mascot's pose in their logo.

Not to hijack the thread here, but I did keep my [REDACTED LEAGUE] expansion team designs. Might upgrade them for JPBO to the 23 template and will release them after I finish the pre-23 versions of those.

I'm also going to support the effort to save OOTP Japanese baseball (one way or another, LOL). I won't start a new thread since I'm primarily focused on stadiums. Tehsuigi and Brendan really got me thinking about fictional Japanese teams and I love the creativity here. I enjoyed following your progress and seeing all the great stuff you've been making!

Now come on, let's show some love to Okinawa. They must have a team in our universe, no? So let me introduce the Wave. It's a fitting name and look for a team based in beautiful Okinawa (with heavy inspiration from the defunct Blue Wave). Who knows, maybe one day I will also make their stadium

I have been playing as this team for three seasons now.

Kobe Braves, playing in the Hotto Motto Field Kobe, where the legendary Ichiro started his career.

This could be an expansion team or a team that never merged with the team from Osaka.

I got the logos from some logo packs since I am not very good at graphic design.

The cap and jerseys are based off Boston Red Sox.

Canuck, my man, that O-wave logo for Okinawa is brilliant. Small nitpick - the Great Wave you chose for the main logo is off Kanagawa, a few thousand kilometres north and east.

Love the set and the creativity. Thank you for sharing your creation. I'll update the first post with a link to all of the different sets available to help navigation once the thread grows. Others should please feel free to share anything that you have on theme, too.

I hear you on the new format. It's on my to-do list to learn. I'll take a look in the near future and see if I can figure it out. Hard to break old habits since I can put something together using the old templates so quickly now. In the meantime, I will post the .svg file for all of the logos and wordmarks to Google drive in case anyone more advanced than me wants to assist with futureproofing.

This is an excellent identity. I really like the Spartan/gladiatorial theme for the Braves. This is better than what I had in mind for Kobe (I was vaguely thinking about something like the Kobe Ranchers, but hadn't been able to really crystalize anything about the identity yet...)

And I might use your aces set as an expansion team in my Kobe braves expansion team. I have expanded the league by 2 teams in 2022, and probably do another expansion by 2 in 2025 or 2026.

I might call it Kyoto Aces or Niigata Aces, and change the away jersey since that is the only element that mentions Nagoya on it.

And I am still playing in the "South African" league in its original form.
