A fiddly question about one part of Sabermetric Player Creation Modifiers

Long-time player of the game, but I'm spacing out on a single aspect of the Sabermetric Player Creation Modifier attributes when creating a new league.

Here's my question: If I were to set a Sabermetric PCM higher than the MLB default of 1.000, would that make hitters better or worse at contact than hitters in a different league where the "Strikeouts" PCM is at the 1.000 default? For some reason I absolutely cannot remember which it is. I'll blame it on the January head cold.

I'm running an 1800s universe and I want to consider the possibility of having a league in another country where hitters aren't as high on power but better at making contact, while still being able to automatically import Historical Player Creation Modifiers.

Thanks!

I've never bumped a thread before, but I'm going to do it here because I just added my Canadian league and I want to see if I can get an answer on this before I add a custom league in Cuba.

For the first part, Sabermetric modifiers above 1.000 will always create better ratings, below 1.000 will create lower ratings. So, if you are wanting to affect specific skills you need to use the Traditional modifiers.

I'm not sure about using them along with imported Historical Modifiers.

When it comes to Creation Modifiers, my largest piece of advice would be to test things yourself. It is going to be difficult for others to give you advice for the specific setup you are creating.

This was kind of along the lines of the answer that I was looking for.

I knew that combining Historical PCM's with Sabermetric PCM's had the potential to be a bit of a minefield and would need test games, but I wasn't sure if taking the Sabermetrics PCM's about 1 made the ratings - in a relative sense - higher or lower.

Thank you!
