UPDATED MLB Roster set for 2023 season - with Steamer/600 projections

Hello gang,

Since nearly all MLB major free agents have now signed, I wanted to share my personal work with the community.



- Live start date as of early November

- Converted and imported 2023 Steamer/600 projections for nearly 3,600 batters, and 4,300 pitchers

- All major free agent signings as of 12/29. I’ve set FA signings to “no trade clause” so the AI will not trade them two days in to your new season :/

- All major trades as of 12/29

- Updated majority of Top 100 prospects (I use Baseball America as main source). Prospect may not be ranked at the exact spot per BA, however should have potentials that reflect scouting

- Updates to market sizes/budgets for most teams (i.e. Mets now market size of 11)

*** Please note this file has human controlled all teams to NOT allow any AI moves. You will need to change this on your side.
Also note you will need to advance a day or two to officially “end” the 2022 season. My assumption is awards voting, etc will occur and need to manually assign for accuracy. ***



Here is what is NOT updated in the file:

- A few of the FA signings may not have 100% accurate contracts.... a few may be just yearly AAV

- Coaching changes

- Minor league free agents/Rule 5 picks not all accurate

- R/L splits for batters (Steamer only has overall projected stats vs splits)

- Some players may have odd ratings/talents assigned. For instance, a player may have a lower potential versus rating. I tried to catch as many of these as possible, but certain there are still some issues

- 2023 MLB schedule

- Top 30 prospects for each organization… although most of Top 10 should be ok

- Scouting turned off

- Minor league roster rules

- Season awards such as MVP, etc


A few other observations....

- Some players at the extremes of contact (or lack there of) may have contact ratings a little too high or too low

- Some players Gap rating/talent are probably a bit too high

Just giving heads up in case you see something that looks off.


My goal is to share this file "as is" with anyone interested.

Thanks for the kind words Tejdog1!

Once I figured out how to get Steamer 600 projections from FanGraphs exported and develop a system of equivalent ratings for each stat in my workbook, I was able to mass import to OOTP at once.

Had some hiccups along the way, but mostly worked out well!

First off thank you so much! Very much appreciated man!

Haven’t been able to even play it, not sure what I’m doing wrong but I zip it into the QuickStart file and then when i load the game and try to play it I get “QuickStart must be loaded from our server before you can use it” never seen that before and not sure what I’m doing wrong. Any insight would help, I want to play this so bad!! Thanks and happy new year

Just unzip the folder to your saved games folder.

The main folder should end in *.lg

Hey gang….another update dropping later today/tonight with the below:


More file updates as of 12/31!!

- All MLB coaching staffs should now be accurate. Several teams have two hitting coaches listed so I had to select one of the two

- Updated minor league rules to be roster size of 30, with exception of Rookie (50) and DSL (40)

- Updated minor leagues for service time limits for all levels under AA

- Took another run through at least team’s top 10 prospects

- Reviewed and “leveled” several upper levels minor league arms. With Steamer it projects either as RP or SP, so several minor league arms were a bit too highly rated for SP and should be RP. This mostly impacts 45/50/55 AAA/AA level SP that should be 40/45

- Will Smith the pitcher had Will Smith the catcher’s batting ratings :/

- Updates to several players the system missed. For instance Kumar Rocker of Texas

- All teams now set to Computer GM control, however I still have all AI moves disabled. You will have to enable on your side before starting a save!!!

That doesn’t work either for me. This is so frustrating lol.

Download -> unzip to saved_games file -> load game and nothing is there.

When I d/l file to my phone and unzip I see below to put the *.lg saved games folder.

From there should be able to navigate in game to load game and select this file.

Is this different than you are seeing hockey?

Same thing, I have 2 different folders. Idk if that’s why or? Every QuickStart I’ve done it’s one file generally. Again though, appreciate all the help/replies

It worked for me. Didn't do it as a Quickstart, just hit Load Game after taking the "2023 MLB CBL v4 FINAL.lg" folder and put it in my "saved_games" folder.

The one annoyance I had with it (very minor nitpick) is that due to the delayed Playoff Ending glitch/situation, the KBO/[redacted] postings were done before the start of the offseason, so only teams who had large remaining budget for 2022 could bid on the top players since the players treated 2022 as Y1 of the contract.

Other than that though this is absolutely phenomenal. Thank you!

Good observation - I figured something with the foreign leagues may get a bit off with finalizing the MLB file. No problem sharing - glad to!!!

Hey gang - one more update tonight…

I went through and reviewed the remaining MLB free agents and "leveled down" some potentials of the career minor leaguers/released MILB players to get them out of the 45/50 potential range. Most are now 35ish potentials or below.

Probably my final file update for awhile.

FYI - zip file is named “v6” however the .lg save file I believe is still v5.

*** Before you start the file please remember to enable the cpu AI for all cpu teams!!!
