Always fun to have something happen that's never been done in MLB history

Tonight I had something happen which hasn't happened in the (tens of) thousands of games I've played, and it turns out it's never happened in MLB history either: 2 players hitting for the cycle in the same game. I went through the list of the 339 cycles to occur in MLB history to confirm that fact, nor could I Google any version of it happening. It was one for each team:

And Veen's cycle was completed with a 2-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the 9th, and I doubt more than few of the cycles in MLB history have been completed in that fashion (although that's *way* too much research to undertake). Of course it helped for both players that the game took place at Coors Field.

The full box, as my Rays sadly blew an 8-2 lead:

Incredible. Only at Coors.

I recently had a rookie catcher, Barney Dickey, hit for the cycle in his first game, for the 1971 Phillies. He was an emergency replacement due to injury. I didn’t do the research, but I’ll bet that never happened before. And this from a guy who never reached the major leagues IRL. No idea if he was related to Yankees catcher Bill Dickey. As GM I had to send him back to AAA after the game, to free up a roster spot. Fortunately it was late August, and I promised he would be back on September 1 when the rosters expanded. He’s back and continuing to play well. For the moment he has climbed ahead of Bob Boone, who has struggled at AAA. I love the “alternate history” and “what if” aspects of OOTP.

Very cool. I remember Markus saying that he once had A Rod hit 5 HRs in a single game.

I'm fairly sure I remember someone posting about someone hitting a HR cycle before too, which obviously has never happened in real life.
