Posted here is my update of the US portion of the World Data File to match city data from the 2020 census. Just paste the text file over the section of the world data for the United States, starting at <STATES> (line 84439 by my version) and closing, some 17,000 lines later at </STATES> (line 102780).
I'm not sure where the game gets its data from, but since I've played, the numbers have never matched the census. This corrects this, as well as double-counted areas in the northeast (which I learned can be quite complicated). In addition to the 1,000 person cutoff for cities, I've also included all townships from PA, NY, NJ, and MI with over 4,000 people (many are much larger and their absence lowers player percentages significantly for these states). I consolidated some New England towns from several villages. Latitudes and longitudes are mostly what comes with the game for cities I haven't added myself.
I hope you can make use of this and enjoy. This was a major timesuck for me, but one I'm proud of having finished and wanted to share.
