the game crashed whenever I load a savegame

Any savegame, or one in particular? If it's just one save, please upload it (instructions here) and we'll have a look at it for you.

That sounds like your game's installation may be damaged or corrupted, then. First thing I would try is reinstalling, or if you're on Steam, go to FHM9 in your library, right-click on it and select Local Files, and then Verify Integrity of Game Files. That'll repair any problems it finds.
