Licensing - live players
I'm not upset about this or anything - I barely notice the live players anymore and typically quicksell them all immediately. But what are the issues that make some players unlicenseable at the end of the season? Does it have to do with them being out of contract or something?
Just curious.

Agreed - minors?
Also what happens with those players already on teams? If they will end up removed, could quicksell points be added to our accounts in exchange? |

The removal only affects the creation of new cards, not the ones currently in existence.

But what's the licensing issue? That's what OP wanted to know.

Unfortunately, all I can officially say about the issue is it's a licensing issue. There was no other detailed explanation given to myself or the team to expand on why.

Broadly speaking, licensing generally has to do with use of a person's image in a commercial product. So, if you see a player's face on a live card it likely means that he is covered by the MLBPA license that OOTP agreed to with the union. If there is no face, he is likely not covered (or OOTP doesn't (yet) have an authorized image of him to put on the card). I don't know the details of DFA'ed players or new 40-man additions to the roster or recent debuts and MLBPA coverage under their licensing agreement ... but as PT users we see the net result in whether there is a live card photo or not. Obviously, retired players are not covered hence the fantastic artwork used in place of pictures. Same with minor league players that are not under the MLBPA. It will be interesting in years ahead to see how the minor league players and the MLBPA sort out MiLB player image rights with the MLBPA unionizing and representing them.
