New OOTP 23 Public Beta Patch Available (23.8.93)

Important: This patch is only for OOTP 23 versions which were purchased directly from us or resellers who use our version. It is also available via the Steam client with the public password below.
It is NOT compatible with the Mac OSX AppStore or Epic version!

Hi everybody!

We have fixed a number of issues recently, so here is a new public beta, version 23.8.93. If there are no issues, it will be released later this week or next.

Use this at your own risk! Please back up important league files before loading them in this beta. This patch is compatible with the previous patch for online leagues - exports will work between versions, however both clients and the commish need to update to benefit from the online league fixes.

Changelist (23.8.93):
Updated Rosters and Ratings (needs new game)
Fixed an issue with imported games and neutralized stats setting stamina to min for players
Fixed minor league totals and strategy resetting when running custom new game setup
Fixed crash when minimizing game in certain circumstances
Fixed rare case where live start applying when it should not be possible
Fixed case where player missing from minors roster could not be added back
Added button to load all colors xml files for all teams in all game leagues.
Fixed missing ethnicities when reimporting full world DB
Fixed too many players coming from specific cities bug
Fixed sort players by city
Fixed baseball cards pictures zoom and position
Fixed free agent coach suit texture
Adjusted rejection rate for players in tournament from higher baseball quality nations
Auto-fill daily lineups adds SP
Disabled uniform xml file loading button for PT
Fixed player picture zoom and position
Added feature to restore saved game from auto-save folder
Adjusted player creation to better balance HR
Fixed real stats batting WAR display on player page
Fixed serpentine expansion draft display
Fixed some issues with expansion draft order
Fixed some live start issues with players not getting released
Adjusted league transactions page for small resolutions (Trade Log to Transaction News, and removed Strength Overview which can still be found in league reports)
Fixed Expansion setup window for small resolutions
Fixed service time for minor league pitchers in live start
Saved scroll position in arbitration page
Fixed Hispanics FaceGen faces
Fixed Korean translation in the uniform dialog
Fixed normal map files loading bug
File names and subfolders can be specified in the uniform colors xml file
PT: Fixed user first name set to Jim
PT: Fixed some issues with loading drafts and players ending up in the wrong spots

How to access the beta on Steam:
  • Quit OOTP 23 if it's running.
  • Open Steam client -> Library
  • Right click on Out of the Park Baseball 23
  • Click on "Properties" at the bottom of the menu
  • Click on the beta tab. Here, enter the following code / password: ootp23betapt
  • Click on "Check code"
  • Open the beta pull-down and select "publicbeta".
  • Close the Steam client (Steam menu -> Exit)
  • Open the client again. It should then download the beta build.
Update Info for our webstore customers: To apply the update, simply download the setup file and install it over your current installation. There is no need to uninstall or unlicense your current copy! However, you should quit the game before installing it, of course. Updates always contain all the changes from previous updates. Saved games are compatible between different versions.

Download link for PC Beta (Fastspring Webstore Version):
Main server: PC Installer

Here's a PC installer (Fastspring) that installs into a single folder, which is useful for external HDs for example. Or for creating a second test install of the game, so you can try the patch out without the risk of messing up your main install of the game if something is wrong in the patch:
PC Single Folder Installer

Download link for Mac (FastSpring):
Main Server: Mac OSX Installer

Please post here if you have any issues or if you run into major bugs. Thanks!

Cheers,
The OOTP Team

Thanks. Excited about this being fixed. I've been holding off on starting my game until this was patched.

Is there still no fix for players who were 2022 all-stars not being noted as 2022 all-stars during a Live Start? Otherwise, everything looks good to me!

I haven't tried a live start prior to this patch so maybe they've been this buggy all along, but when I try a live start I'm having several problems:

-the 40 man rosters aren't populating, only the players on the active roster are on the 40 man. This is especially problematic because it means that players that should be playoff roster eligible aren't.
-the draft history screen is mostly unpopulated and has only a few late round draftees per team.
-tatis is not suspended.

Haven't tried this patch yet, but Live Start has been a mess before it.

- Gamelogs for individual players are mixed up; not in chronological order.

- Numerous minor league players on every team are assigned Major League contracts (especially newly drafted players from the 2022 draft, e.g. Druw Jones) when they've never reached the majors nor on the 40-man roster.

(This results in CPU-controlled teams having to waive these players to make room on their 40-man rosters. The only way to correct this in-game is to turn on Commissioner Mode, go to those players' Editor tab in their profiles, and change their contracts to Minor League contracts after the initial game is finished setting up.

- Players who've signed mid-season contract extensions IRL (e.g. Michael Harris II, Austin Riley) aren't reflected in-game

- Vast majority of the 2022 draft log is missing. The players who are missing from the draft log have no history of being drafted by their teams in their History tab; only that the player was signed by their team.

- Numerous players in the minors are not assigned to their proper rosters.

- Injuries aren't updated properly (e.g. Mike Soroka spent 3 weeks on rehab assignment in the minors IRL while Live Start still had him on IL w/ an 8-9 week recovery time)

Again, I haven't tried the new patch yet to see if these things have been fixed. If they haven't, then Live Start can't be seen as a worthwhile option unless you're willing to spend hours manually fixing these issues upon creating a new league.

Fixed free agent coach suit texture

It is a nitpick Matt, but the lapels on the suit graphic need adjusting. They should be a flat layer of clothing, not the rounded look they are currently. Looks goofy IMO.

Appreciate the patch, looking forward to official version.

That's a shame. It sounds like the empty 40 man rosters might be an attempt to fix this that backfired?

Was hoping this bug would be fixed in one of the patches this year, as I've seen it since 23 came out:

The one where your trainer tells you the guy is ready to play immediately but the injury doesn't go away so he can't.

All,

Definitely enjoying the XML color feature, thanks for the hard work revamping it.

I found the load XML button in Game Settings > Players & Facegen, but it's not clear what directory it's using to reload the XMLs. My default "colors" folder is empty, and I've saved my colors XMLs in a custom directory.

Unlike logos/caps/jerseys/pants that I can point to a custom directory, there isn't a setup for colors.

So when I press that button, where does it look for team XML files?

Thanks!

Hi,

I have a question about the following change “Adjusted rejection rate for players in tournament from higher baseball quality nations”

I just had my first tournament with the new patch. The tournament had both USA and Puerto Rico. Puerto Ricans have the US as a second nationality and the PR team should have about 250 players to choose from. When it came time to select rosters, all but 4 Puerto Ricans seemed to choose the US over PR, including loads of players that really had no shot at being picked for the US. PR only had 4 players to pick from, so most of their team was ghost players.

Is this due to the new patch? In previous tournaments I’ve run with the previous patch, PR had plenty of players to choose from (though the best usually chose the US). Both PR and USA are 5 star countries, and I have the rejection tendency set to “Never” for both hitters and pitchers.

Thank you for the patch. Was just wondering if there is a fix for the All-Star Game being played on the same day as regular season games?
