arena conditions factors???

i am rather new to hockey.....loving watching old hockey on YT.....in this Edmonton LA Kings game 1985, they announcers are talking about ice conditions.....and arena conditions......apparently LA was warmer which causes fatigue and the puck plays different on their ice?? I assumed all arenas and rinks were the same controlled environment.....does FHM have arena factors, similar to ballpark factors that we have in baseball sims????? https://youtu.be/unDBAmgRvCI

Are there other arenas that have known differences that can effect the play?

In basketball supposedly the Boston Garden had 'dead' spots on the floor that the celtics could use to their advantage.

Yeah, back then the ice would get 'softer' in warm climate arenas. As a result of a quicker melt, you'd get more water pooling and especially ice chips forming mini slush banks which in turn played havoc with cross ice passes.

It's obviously not as severe now but there are still complaints about ice quality in warm climate arenas during the playoffs, just this year Nazim Kadri was talking about how bad the ice was getting in Tampa Bay, for example.

Another example I can remember is how San Jose around 5 years ago when they were a playoff team had to call in a bunch of tractor-trailer HVAC units because the playoffs were during a heat wave and with the added heat from the crowd they were not getting NHL-quality ice.

On the other hand, Colorado is known to have colder ice than a lot of other teams, which makes it a little easier to skate faster and make quick passes, which the Avalanche have taken advantage of, their home record over the last few years is very very good.

This is why I never got complaints about the Winter Classic. Ice is never uniform, not all boards are the same (I can recall times when players warming up would slam into the boards to check how much give they had), and lighting is not always the same.

Yeah, the Classic has an occasional blizzard or soft ice (ridiculously so in Buffalo and Lake Tahoe, respectively) but one thing I like about the outdoor sports is how different stadiums and weather conditions come into play. It is part of the fun to me (though maybe not to the players themselves).

cool discussion.....is it something players desire in FHM??? doesn't seem like it currently exists?
