All star selection

I would like to have the option to manually choose the All Stars. I don't like the AI selections. Sometimes it will pick 5 catchers and one second baseman. I think there should be a minimum of two players at each position.

There is an option to do it yourself.

You can manually pick the All-Stars... I only choose 23 and pick them myself... it's been this way for years and years... in recent versions, the AI does a pretty good job in picking the All-Stars... but, of course, you and I can do it better... yep, we can always do it better.

You will get a All-Star Game notice a few days before the All-Star Game... check your League Events... I think it is one of the League Events.

Thanks for the response. I am aware of the notice but where do you select the players?

This taken from the OOTP Manual.

Selecting All-Stars Manually
As mentioned above, OOTP selects the All-Star participants automatically. However, if you are the commissioner of your league, or if you are playing in a solo league, you can also select the All-Stars manually if you prefer to have more control. To manually select All-Stars, use the Manual All-Star Voting menu option. This option appears in the League menu 30 days before the All-Star game.

Selecting this menu option will bring you to the All-Star Voting page.

Voting for players here is easy. Use the top half of the screen to look up players and their statistics, then drag the players to the boxes on the bottom of the page. You can use the Qualify drop-down in the top right to filter out players who have not played enough to qualify. Pitchers qualify if they have at least 1 inning pitched per team game played in the first half. Hitters qualify if they have at least 3.1 plate appearances per team game played in the first half. You can also use the Ask Computer button to let the AI choose the All-Stars.

If you choose to vote manually, then you must complete both All-Star teams. You cannot create a partial All-Star roster. Not all of your voting has to happen on one day. You could vote in a handful of obvious choices 30 days prior to the All-Star game, then vote a few more each week. Just, make sure you complete the rosters before the All-Star teams are announced 3 days before the All-Star Game. If you don't complete your voting manually before then, the computer will select the teams!

I pick my all-stars a week prior to the game... that way the stats are very current.

Sorry, I can't give you exact details... hopefully someone that is picking their All-Star team will post detailed instructions and screenshots for you as they select their All-Stars.

It will be a month or two before I picked my all-stars.

Basically, this is how you do it:
Doing it from memory... so beware.

Click on All-Star Event Notice on the Game Menu screen... this should open the All-Star Selection window... choose Manual All-Star Selection... this should give you a window that shows the AI's all-star selections... you can remove the ones you don't like and replace them with your choice of players.

You choose your players by dragging them from the "sortable stats" down to the league they play in.

I think at the top of the screen you can use the "sortable stats" to locate the players and their stats... you can choose it position by position... select "Pitchers" and it will only show pitcher stats... then go to "Catchers" and it will only show catcher stats... then go to First Basemen, etc.
