Tournaments

Which tournaments do you all feel like provide the best pack reward given the difficulty? I've mainly stuck to Live tournaments because I'd finished all of the live missions. So, I felt like I had the best opportunity there. I've finished high enough to get some packs a handful of times. But, seeing some of those tournaments with Diamond/Historical packs as the rewards is tempting.

The payoff is better for the daily tournaments, but I'm not sure if the greater payout is worth the time spent waiting for those daily ones to start. My main teams are bronze and silver. Doing the bronze daily requires waiting nearly a full day from signup to start time, so I've found that I'm more likely to get a pay out on 5 or 6 quick tourneys than 1 daily for that one. Silver is better in that regard. So, depends on the tournament.

I think the reg tourneys are the best if you sign up for them throughout the day. If you can only sign up 1-2x a day, then the dailies might be the way to go.

If you want packs, your best bet is the 32-team quick tourneys for Iron and Bronze. Other than Babe Ruth (iron) and Vlad (bronze), who most people don't have, you can field a perfect team for very cheap. Almost every player you need is under 100pp and all are under 500pp. Once you build a maxed squad for both of those tourneys, constantly run 3 tourneys at a time - check about every hour to see if any of your teams have been eliminated and sign up for a new one.

The real advantage to running the Daily tourneys is if you can't check every hour or two. If that's the case, signing up for the tourneys that are 12-24 hours out works fine - you just sign up for your three daily's when you get on. But based on frequency (how many tourneys you can play) and EV of the packs, the standard packs from the quick tourneys actually have the most value.

Thanks. This makes a lot of sense. I work from home and have traditionally focused on the quick tournaments because I have the flexibility to check multiple times a day. I've never gone down to the iron or bronze level. I have just about all relevant live cards. So, I've typically leaned towards live card tournaments. But, I'll look into the iron and bronze ones.

Coming back to say this is great advice. I had no idea how many bronze tournaments run in a day. I've gotten as many packs today as I would in a typical week. Thanks again!

Nice! Happy to help. I wasn't exaggerating when I said you should average 15-20 packs a day. The Iron tourneys run about as quickly as the Bronze.

Utilizing both is the best way to go - so when you get up in the morning, sign up for a 32 team bronze quick tourney, 32 team iron quick tourney, and 16 team iron quick team tourney (there is no 16 team bronze tourney).

The advantage to the 16 team tourney is that it is only 5 game series, and half the teams. So winning 5 packs takes about 3 hours, as opposed to the 6.5 hours to win 10 packs (or 5 if you get 2nd place) in the 32-team tourneys. The 16 team tourneys are especially nice for the evenings; so say it's 6pm, I won't be awake in 6 hours, but I will be awake in 3 - so I can run a 16 team tourney and still be able to join another one before I go to sleep.
