Roster Advice

I've read a lot through these forums about setting up a lineup for success. With it being my first year at PT, I feel like I have learned A LOT. Especially with regards to being a (hopeful) FTP player in the future. I'll admit, I've shelled out some cash this year, but not a ton. Know more now about the value of packs, participating in tournaments and drafts, etc.

At this point, I'm still feeling a bit behind for OOTP23. Feel like there is too much ground to make up, given what I now know. Made it to Diamond level for 3 seasons, but never had a winning record. Have been in Gold (hanging by a thread several years) for the past 9 seasons.

Was hoping for some additional constructive feedback from the group based on what I've got to work with. I've completed 250+ missions. But, I still feel like there is a lot of room for improvement. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

My biggest piece of advice is that the sooner you can wean yourself off of using Live players, the better. Minter and Goldschmidt are okay right now, but there are definitely better options out there for their positions from the Historical ranks (Jimmie Foxx, one of the live rewards, is a good example of a 1B a lot of people swear by starting out). The movement and control for Minter will probably get him eaten up by better hitting in Gold and Diamond, and Goldschmidt may be able to hold his own, but only by barely a string because of his Avoid K.

Realmuto can be easily replaced by any of the catchers you get from Live missions (Crandall, Hartnett, or Elston Howard).

That's just my 2 cents; this isn't a bad start, but there's definitely room for improvement.

Thanks

Appreciate the reply. I actually have Foxx. I recently moved him to reserve (when I got E. Martinez) bc I was using him primarily as a DH and Goldschmidt as my 1B. But, I did that somewhat reluctantly because Foxx had put up good numbers. I'll go back and revisit that.

To add on, consider the OVR ratings for Live and Non-Live cards to be two separate groups. Even then, be careful about putting too much reliance of OVR ratings when comparing cards to each other. The bottom line is that Live cards are not playable at the higher levels.
