Realistic MLB Age Distributions
Does anyone have any tips and development speed, aging, TCR, etc to produce MLB age distributions that reflect the current IRL trends?
Been running tests and havent been getting any results that are exactly what I want to see.

Just to highlight above... Default MLB quickstart, true to life minors limits, 25/25/25/25 ai eval, Real Modern Day injury settings, 200 TCR, 1.050 aging and 1.100 dev w/ default target dev age and younger target aging age...
17 players in 2029 MLB Opening Day under age 24 vs 65 in 2022. 51% of players in 2022 between 27-32 vs 64% in 2029. 2022 majority of players between 25-29 vs 27-32 in 2029. Only difference is 0 players 40+ in 2029 vs 5 in 2022. 14 players 55> OVR and 36+ years old. Trout is 37 and still 70 OVR. Of the 17 players under 24, only one is above 50 OVR. Of the players under 26 and not in the majors, only 2 are above a 50 OVR. To me, this tells me that the development setting needs to be set to younger or much younger, the speed needs to be buffed quite a bit, and aging speed is at a decent level but target age needs to be at much younger. (There is no chance Trout comes into the 2029 season at an elite level) Thoughts?

I leave my development speed on default, I put aging on .750 for both pitchers and hitters. TCR is 125. Some people here swear by putting it all the way to 200.

Can't speak to the aging part, but players arriving to the majors too late is a problem due to how the AI handles the minors (development may also be too slow, I can't tell).
The AI tends to sign way too many veterans to fill their high minors, even rebuilding teams, and that blocks the path to the majors of the prospects. For example, in my save the AI 2022 Twins signed 3 30-year-old outfielders for their triple A just in the week before the start of the season. This pushed high-end prospects like Alex Kirilloff and Trevor Larnach to double A. Kirilloff and Larnach are MLB-ready prospects who were OK in a decent number of PAs in 2021, but they didn't touch the majors in OOTP 2022 even though my simulation had injuries on "very high". Anyway, keep in mind that getting an MLB talent and age distribution that reflects real life will always be a hard-to-get holy grail, especially when those distributions change often in real life. |
