"sidelining" teams??

I am currently in the process of setting up a world save. I am looking at the Baseball Challenge League, and OOTP has 12 teams in two division...but in reality there are only 8 teams' currently.

I am thinking of reducing the number of teams' to reflect reality, but I DO NOT want to permanently remove the teams form my database. So my question is, is there a way to proceed with 8 teams' while "sidelining" the other teams' for future use. (I suspect the 4 teams will likely re-appear in another league or the BCL will be revamped).

This would make it very easy to just plug them in at a later time.

I'd move the 4 teams to a new league and delete that league's schedule. They'd be effectively sidelined.

This is what I did for the pandemic year... if you have players on the teams note that free agents will leave the league as their contracts expire unless you turn thst off.

How about enabling promo/rele, but the league they're demoted to doesn't actually play any games, and all promotions/relegations are done manually?

They haven't been "sidelined", they broke off and started a new league

Well it depends, in my case I didn't mind if free agents went and played in Korea, Japan, etc. as I let some of those leagues play on. If you were literally trying to shelve entire teams you'd need to turn off "allow free agents to leave league".
