Tactics Help

Hey guys, I've been playing the game for a while but the tactics have always eluded me. I always find myself going back to an AI coach because I get to a point where I'm a cup favourite but either let in to many goals, don't score enough or more often both.

I know there's not really a "meta" but does anyone have any suggestions for combinations that work well together or work well with a certain kind of team?

From my experience the best way to approach this is to establish a baseline, depending on the type of team you have, and then make slight adjustments from there depending on how the opposition plays.

In other words, there is no one size fits all. If for example the opposition wants to play on the defensive side of the puck, (Attack -1), then I'll counter by playing on the offensive side, (Attack +1), in order to take the play to them. (Which I can do effectively because I built an aggressive attacking roster).

Is there a setting where certain teams can’t seem to score much?

I’ve a loaded team in Seattle with the Kraken, nearly identical to what I would’ve created in some of my other saves, have the same tactics, same coaches ( playing as GM and HC ) yet in Seattle my GPG scored is barely 2.6 while other saves it’s closer to 4.0…

this is in my 4th season and I’ve won the cup in the 2nd one….

Can you provide a screenshot of your Tactics screen and Lines screen?

Sure thing. D Clague is playing while Chychrun is injured.

finished the season with 224 goals scored. 3rd worst in the NHL. conceded 211 which was the best in the league.

Won the cup this year again, but Pastrnak dropped to 4.5 stars at 28 years of age. this never happened before his 34th bday in any other save.
