Was I taught the wrong math when I went to school?

I'm sure that 25,132 + 500 would equal 25,632.

But apparently not - according to OOTP it only totals 25,432.

It's just a weird characteristic of the way they display the total. It lags behind the current reward. If you look back on the same page of yours that you show here, you'll see that the total lags one behind. Just another slightly irritating quirk of the game.
