Tom Ricketts sleeping with Andrelton Simmons

This has been talked about a lot on this forum, but I got a good one. One of Ricketts "goals" was sign Andrelton Simmons and his .190 -0.4 WAR. Rickdiculous! I'll likely get fired because I let him go. Simmons actually wouldn't talk to me about signing at the time (he wasn't in a contract mood) and I just forgot to get back to him.

Vastly overrated player well past his prime. There would be other, better, cheaper versions of good field no hit middle IF, if that’s where the owner wanted to land.

For me.... Owner goals = OFF

The goals are normally ridiculous and stupid, to your point of the post. In what IRL scenario does your example ever come up? My money says Tom Ricketts doesn't even know who A. Simmons is.

Like I said in another post - fake it until you make it shouldn't be a guiding light in this game.

I absolutely love the concept of Owner expectations. Give you, the manager, a set of criteria to work towards. And often, in real life, owners do like a certain player (typically because the fans do and it helps the Gate) and share that with their managers.

But, there are too many "Simmons" types that are coveted by owners and put on their "to-do lists". Just another bout of eye-rolling from the customer base.

I am extremely of the side that would keep any code out of the game that can fail to the point it either a.) makes no difference or

b.)makes a difference that is so very unlike the typical ebb-and-flow n MLB it sticks out like a sore thumb to the extent it creates forum discussions.

I get it, but at the same time you're saying that you love the concept of owner expectations in the exact same thread that you created to complain about an owner expectation, lol.

Yes, sometimes the owner goals are stupid. Case and point, re-sign Andrelton Simmons. A past-his-prime, non-hitting, player who has been with the team just 1 year and couldn't have developed any fan loyalty that would warrant resigning him as being a priority. And because stupid owner goals, such as this, do pop up from time to time.... I shut them off lol.
