Sim until baserunner
Mostly for those who currently use the "sim until risp" feature, but also for anyone who'd like to speed up managed games a bit without sacrificing too much strategy.
Would people like a feature that lets you sim "until baserunner," not just risp but any baserunner? When there's nobody on base, there's not much for us, the player, to manage. So 99.99% of the time I want to quick-sim those ABs. However, I do not want to quick-sim when there's a runner on first. Things that come into play with a runner on first: - pickoffs - pitchouts - bunts - steals - hit and run - run and hit - pinch runner - pitching change decision - pinch hit decision There's just so much of baseball that opens up with a runner on first, I hate leaving it up to the AI when I'm managing games. I wanna speed upy games a bit without sacrificing my ability to make these choices with a runner on first. Last edited by brotherblues; 07-24-2022 at 08:49 PM. |

So why not just quick sim (1 pitch mode) until there is a runner on?

I personally wouldn't use that option. I do feel there are still some decisions to be made even without anyone on base. Example being, when the pitcher's pitch count is starting to creep up there a little bit I will often times take pitches until I get a strike on me. Or if the defense is shifting a hitter, laying down a bunt for example.
I guess if you're really looking to whip through games quickly, it could serve purpose. I personally wouldn't see myself ever using it though. |

I'd like to have an alternative to that, and have the option to sim "until baserunner." |

I love using sim until until risp but the big drawback is you miss solo homeruns runs scored from first.

For the record I'm not saying we should replace "sim until risp." Just add sim until baserunner. There's space there for it. Last edited by brotherblues; 07-24-2022 at 11:00 PM. |

So basically you only want to play the game if there's a runner on base?

This would be a great option. I often use the Until RISP option, but I definitely would be willing to have an additional interrupt once a runner gets on base. You could even then choose to only worry about that in later innings or however you wish to use it. Baseball is so dynamic that there wouldn't be a hard and fast rule of when you might to use this.

I have not used the “sim until RISP” feature; in part because I would much prefer what you are suggesting, for the reasons you cite. I would not only support “sim until runner on base”, but would not miss “sim until RISP”, if that were the only alternative.

The worst is when you use the feature during the bottom of the 9th and end up missing a walk off solo shot.

Agree. Sometimes you'll be debating taking a pitcher out and decide "if someone gets on, I'll pull him". This feature would make that easier as opposed to just playing out every at-bat.

Lol this response takes me back to the little league days. My dad coached my team year after year and was alllllllll about the, "you got one more runner" way of thinking when he was getting ready to pull the pitcher. Granted, I don't think that's an unusual way of doing it but you did bring back some memories with the way you worded that haha. |

When I play games out I manage, I do "until RISP" when my pitcher is out there since I hate agonizing over every at-bat, and go at-bat by at-bat for my hitters since I might want to steal or hit-and-run. If I feel a pitcher is batter-to-batter or if there is a reliever platoon issue, I'll switch to at-bat by at-bat. But yeah sometimes I'd like a "runner on" option as well. |

Here’s an extreme example that unfortunately happens. My starter goes out in the late innings, walks the opposing pitcher on four pitches that (thanks, pitch widget) are not close. That tells me my guy is gassed, and needs to come out immediately. I gotta hope i have somebody already throwing. With “RISP”, i miss all this drama. With “runner on” I will know it sooner, and maybe avert a catastrophe.
